What is Machine Translation? Machine translation is the application of computers to the translation of texts from one natural language into another. The language from which a text is being translated is referred to as the ‘source language’ (abbreviated as SL), and the language nto which the text is being translated is referred to as the ‘target language’ (TL). Machine translation (MT) is a form of translation where a computer program analyses the text in one language — the "source text" — and then attempts to produce another, equivalent text in another language — the target text — without human intervention. It is a translation productivity tool that works by breaking down sentences or other text segments, analyzing them in context and then recreating their meaning in the target language.
